⅚Man United one step closer to bringing in Bundesliga sensation

Manchester United have moved one step closer to signing Bundesliga star Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen, according to a fresh report.

Since arriving at Old Trafford in the summer Erik ten Hag has been eager to freshen up his defensive options.

In particular, the Dutch manager has expressed a desire to sign another right back, with first-choice Diogo Dalot out of contract in the summer, and second-choice Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s future at the club looking more precarious by the day.

The latter has played just four minutes of first-team football this term, and will likely move on in January.

A player that looks likely to replace Wan-Bissaka is Netherlands international Frimpong, who has impressed in the Bundesliga this term.

The 21-year-old, who was once part of the Manchester City academy, has scored five goals and provided three assists in his 21 appearances for Leverkusen this term.

The report claims that Frimpong is aware of Man Utd’s interest in him and that a move to Old Trafford is becoming more likely.

The Bundesliga club are allegedly already looking for a replacement for Frimpong, who is currently at the World Cup with the Netherlands.

Frimpong is currently contracted to Leverkusen until 2025, and while the player is valued at £22million, Man Utd will likely need to pay a lot more to secure the right-back’s services.

The Red Devils will reportedly accelerate their plans for the upcoming transfer window once the World Cup finishes.
